30

So we went to see Rufus Wainwright at the Beacon Theatre last night. Awesome, especially the finale: Britney Spears choreography with the entire band dressed in togas- really funny. The horn players from Conan O'Brien were there, as well as a violinist, bass/cellist, backup singers, the whole nine yards. He played all my favorites (except Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk.)It was the perfect way to turn 30.

Happy, happy birthday Lauren! You guys so deserve some happiness in your lives! Looks and sounds like you had an awesome evening. I love Rufus, saw him open for Roxy Music a couple of years ago! I think my favorite is "Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk," although my other fave is probably his cover of "Hallelujah".

I've seen him twice now, and the best part is songs that I only like a little bit on the cd I get a whole new appreciation for hearing them live, and they become my new favorites.

It's true. After I saw him live I was really taken with his music. I think sometimes the production of certain records can really limit a person's sound, and then you see them live and you're blown away. Kind of like White Stripes for me. Wasn't that razzle dazzled when I first heard their music, slowly got into it, really liked the cd he did for Loretta Lynn (Van Lear Rose), and then saw them live last month, and was blown away by his guitar playing (which I saw once on the Grammys, and he blew me away then, too.)

BTW, can't wait to see the new Johnny Cash flick with Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon,"Walk the Line." I really like some of Cash's stuff, too.

Love Johnny Cash. Love Joaquin Phoenix (although in a much different way!). Must go see Walk the Line!

I have no Johnny Cash CDs. What's wrong with me? Ah, yes - I'm cheap. ;-)
